August Lecture Series
August 17 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Travel with Historians Dr. Ed West and Robert Scarlett as they explore how Summerville became “The First Railroad Town in America.” In 1831, locals near Sawmill Branch discovered a railroad was being built just north of them. A tavern keeper realized he owned valuable land that would become part of a future town centered around “Hutchinson Square,” eventually named “New Summerville.”
